What the Essential Eight measures
The Essential Eight is a set of eight mitigation strategies from the Australian Signals Directorate. It’s the country’s baseline for defending against the most common cyber threats: ransomware, phishing, data breaches, and credential theft.
Each strategy is rated across three maturity levels. Most SMBs sit at ML0 or ML1 without realising it. Knowing where you stand is the first step to closing the gap.
